A duplex penthouse in India, designed by ZuriSpace as a calm, contemporary home with a few deliberate moments of drama. The shell is kept quiet, large-format stone floors, off-white walls and warm wood, so the feature surfaces can carry the space: a full-height panelled wood wall in the living room, a book-matched marble media wall, and a sculptural floating staircase set against a wall of violet-veined marble. Black-framed glass partitions zone the plan without closing it in, and the furniture stays low and neutral so the architecture leads.

A living room around two walls
The main living room is composed between two surfaces. One wall is clad floor to ceiling in warm fluted wood with a slim line of cove light; the other is a book-matched white marble panel carrying the television above a floating stone-topped console. A low grey sofa, sculptural marble-topped tables and a soft geometric rug sit between them, deliberately understated so the two walls do the talking.

Open, but zoned
Rather than wall the spaces off, we used a black-framed glass partition and a long timber console behind the sofa to separate the living area from the circulation and balcony without losing light or sightlines. Sheer drapery softens the floor-to-ceiling glazing, and the same warm wood and stone palette runs through so the whole floor reads as one connected home.

A staircase as sculpture
The arrival is built around the stair. Cantilevered treads with concealed LED lighting appear to float against a full-height wall of white marble shot through with violet and amber veining. A black-framed glass screen wraps the flight, candles ground the base, and the effect is a sculptural centrepiece that connects the levels of the penthouse.
